Roderick Murray (b. 1982) is a self-taught artist photographer based in Aberdeen, Scotland. His enthusiasm for photography began at age four, when he was given his first camera.
He was taught at home for some years by his parents who worked for Glasgow Museums, which brought out a strong autodidactic streak in him. Many days were spent in the galleries and museums of Glasgow, giving Roderick a strong appreciation of the arts from a young age.
After leaving formal education he travelled extensively through Europe, Asia and North America. This period shaped his interests greatly and filtered through to his photographic work: his focus on the human environment, and how it is shaped through the interactions of man, nature and time.
Roderick continues to travel frequently and is currently working on projects concerning politics, environmental issues and the human experience.
